SCHEDULING
Please contact me to schedule your session as far in advance as possible. Spring and Fall through the end of the year are my busiest times, so the more notice you can give me to accommodate your schedule, the better.
ABOUT THE PHOTO SESSION
You'll find I'm very laid-back when it comes to shooting and really aim to capture your personality, so shoots tend to have a "go-with-the-flow" type of feeling. I give some guidance on poses, but I mostly let your personality and style come through by trying to capture you however you feel most comfortable.
LOCATION and TIMING
Sessions are typically held outdoors or in your home or special location. I shoot mainly during daylight hours. Within two hours of sunset or sunrise is the best sunlight, but we can work with your availability. Location suggestions are always welcome!
WHAT TO WEAR
When choosing clothing, try to avoid large logos or writing on shirts as this will draw the eye to the clothing and away from the subject, but layers, textures and accessories are wonderful for adding that unexpected wow factor. Feel free to bring extra outfits or accessories for multiple looks.
TIME COMMITMENT
The best pictures come from a relaxed, fun attitude, so please leave plenty of time for your session. Senior sessions can go up to four hours depending on clothing changes and number of locations.
Pet sessions are more unpredictable, but if you are feeling relaxed, that usually translates to a better outcome for your pet's photos. Do not feel that your pet must be perfectly behaved in order to obtain wonderful photo memories! A strong sit and stay are definitely helpful, but outdoors, dogs remain on leash throughout the session for safety and the leash is often edited out after the shoot.
AFTER THE SESSION
Most of my time as a photographer is spent optimizing your photos in my digital darkroom. After a session, I go through every shot I've taken and judge which ones are winners and which ones will never make the cut. About two to three weeks after your session, I will post the winner proofs from your shoot to a private (password protected) online gallery where you can order prints and other photo products like books, canvases, and greeting cards. These proofs are slightly edited, but the final portrait you receive in print or digital format will be completely retouched and looking its very best!
