Please contact me to schedule your session as far in advance as possible. Spring and Fall through the end of the year are my busiest times, so the more notice you can give me to accommodate your schedule, the better.
You'll find I'm very laid-back when it comes to shooting and really aim to capture your personality, so shoots tend to have a "go-with-the-flow" type of feeling. I may give some guidance in how to arrange your group, or suggestions on poses, but I mostly let your personality and style come through by trying to capture you however you feel most comfortable.
Sessions are typically held outdoors or in your home or special location. I shoot  during daylight hours and keep artificial light sources to a minimum. Location suggestions are always welcome!
When choosing clothing, coordinating colors among family members brings continuity to the pictures, but it's not necessary to all match. Try to avoid large logos or writing on shirts as this will draw the eye to the clothing and away from the subjects, but layers, textures and accessories are wonderful for adding that unexpected wow factor. Feel free to bring extra outfits or accessories for multiple looks and experimentation.
The best pictures come from a relaxed, fun attitude, so please leave plenty of time for your session. Typical family sessions take one to two hours, and senior sessions can go up to four hours depending on clothing changes and number of locations.
Newborn sessions are the most unpredictable -- the baby really runs the show on these! Expect to take frequent breaks for feeding, changing, or just snuggle time.
Most of my time as a photographer is spent optimizing your photos in my digital darkroom. After a session, I go through every shot I've taken and judge which ones are winners and which ones will never make the cut. Within about two weeks after your session, I will post the winner proofs from your shoot to a private (password protected) online gallery where you can order prints and other photo products like books, canvases, and greeting cards. Please keep in mind that these are truly just the unprocessed proofs -- the final portrait you receive in print or digital format will be completely retouched and looking its very best!
